It rubs me the wrong way how almost every RPG or RPG site I've ever seen doesn't "end", but instead dies off from lack of posts or the RPG creator not having time to continue it.
I mean, it irks me terribly. I've only been in two online that actually ended in the story, and in one of these most of the players were fucking 'tards and I couldn't stand it anymore, so I told them to kill my character and quit. The other, I think I was sadly not present to post when it ended, so I felt a little left out.
It really does make me sad. It makes me sad how so many of these, people were really excited and said that they'd post on it when they joined, and they didn't post at all, so the RPG would die within a week. And I try, goddamnit. I post often, usually to the point that I'm often one of the only people still playing.
I really do want to finish an RPG, for once. I'd love to be able to read archives of these RPGs and read a whole story, from beginning to end, and not wonder how things might have gone if it continued. I hate it the most when I look over RPG logs and it stops in mid story.
(Side erk: This happens in tabletop a lot, too. I've been in very few completed campaigns, and most of these were single-session campaigns.)

Been there. Almost every single RP I've been in including TT one hit wonders.

Oh, wait, come to think of it, there was a third RPG that I was in that ended. The reason that it fell out of my head is probably that I don't really remember how it ended (it was rushed, I think), and the sequel died off. Well, I guess that's not as bad.

Pretty much EVERY RP I'm currently in is grinding painfully to a halt. Starting to drive me mad. The theres the ones where you give 3 paragraphs and get 4 lines back... >.<

The theres the ones where you give 3 paragraphs and get 4 lines back... >.< Erg, I hate those, too. I try to put out a lot of quality content, because I'm actually trying, goddamnit. And more often than necessary, I get a short response that brings to me fairly substantial anger. Although, I suppose, it's best that some of these posts are short, for they're so pigeoned with Netspeak half the time, I need to take time out to translate it.

Yeah the Net speak drives me JUST as crazy. Just did a word count for one of said posts, I posted 510 words... I got 75 back. And he spelled his name wrong...
I've gotten to the point where I just pain won't reply to these posts - even if it leads to me getting a warning of the Admin.

I can't stand things like that... it is rare for me to ever post less then 2 decent paragraphs and even when I do that it is because to post more would be to risk either overusing the other person character and creating an awkward situation, or if use of another's character even a wee bit is not allowed; using their character at all.
For the most part though I can overlook poor post length if there is enough there for me to continue the plot line from. It is when this is not even possible because of the pathetic nature of the post that I being to take real issue, more often then not I pull myself out of the RP (or if it is a combat based one I proceed to slaughter everyone in the RP who posts so little). But that is just my solution.

Ha, Well I tried that as it turned into a combot thing later on but that got ignored. This was back when I really tried to ignore bad posters in the hope of If i do lots of lines, then MAYBE... just MAYBE they would do the same back...

I try for a paragraph or two, half the time however I have little to nothing to say or end up in one of those situations where the only way to keep up is half-assed posts that make me feel cheap.

That can happen from time to time.... I guess I look at it as; the admin had no problem with their pathetic post... so anything i give will be better. Makes me feel good about my own posting when i think about it thus... that and i find that you can get people to add more detail by purposely interpreting their posts incorrectly on the more vague details... after a while they start filling in the blanks
