These are the rules that must be followed by all message board members in order to keep their asses from getting spanked by the ban stick. Moderators are supposed to follow as well, and if I (the admin) breaks the rules then, well, all you can do is call me a hypocrite, which may or may not bother me.
[glow=green,2,300]1. Spamming.[/glow] As with any forum, spamming is not allowed outside of designated areas. I'm not going to define spam for you kids, so it might be left to interpretation for the mods. One dignification, however: In roleplaying, typing dumbass one-liners such as "*walks in*" will be considered spamming. Quality is better than quantity, but if you're posting one-liners, they'd better be damn good one-liners.
[glow=green,2,300]2. Obscenity.[/glow] Obviously, seeing as I myself have already used several curse words in just this post, the rules on obscenity are pretty lax. What words you use do not matter. If images are posted, I honestly don't give a damn if they show sex and/or violence. Racist/sexist/et-ceteraist comments should be done with caution; unless you're roleplaying a bigot, or you're aiming for satire, I'd advise against it. However, this does not mean this forum exists solely to put up your amateur porn pics. There are other sites for that purpose.
[glow=green,2,300]3. Advertising.[/glow] This is separate from spamming for a good reason. Advertising isn't quite allowed. It certainly isn't allowed in the IC area. If coupled with spamming, it will result in instant ban. If you're just showing off stuff or giving a link in the lounge to an archived sound or picture that would help in the RPG, that's allowed. If you're very first post on here is showing off your awesome Naruto forum, you're not going to be looked at so kindly. Most bans resulting from this will likely be towards spambots.
[glow=green,2,300]4. Trolling.[/glow] Somewhat like spamming. Somewhat like obscenity. But, basically, if you're being a prick that's trying to bait others into feeding your prick-a-tude, you might get a warning before ban. This rule is mostly up to justify banning bastards. (Kind of like the real purpose for the seatbelt law.)
[glow=green,2,300]5. Bumping and Grave-robbing.[/glow] I really don't care if you bump (or, for that matter, end up double-posting with the bump) but at least let it fall off the front of the boards before you do so, and if you have to bump it 20 times without posts between, I think the topic might just be dead. And I won't make grave-robbing/thread resurrection against the rules, but don't look at me strangely if I scream "ZOMBIE TOPIC!" and get out a shotgun.
[glow=green,2,300]6. Double Posting.[/glow] Eh, I understand the use of it in bumping, and it's allowed in posting separate characters in storage, but seeing as there are edit buttons that I think have no time limit, there's no exception for it otherwise. I doubt you'll get much more than a clucking ridicule for it, though.
[glow=green,2,300]7. Flaming.[/glow] Don't make me pull this car over. I honestly don't care if you kids escalate to caps-locked death threats laced with obscenities (in fact, I'll call it fun), but if you get off topic, you get off topic, and that, my friends, is when it turns into spam. If you're going to engage in an all-out flame war, I'd advise that you take it outside... also known as the Spam Chat forum.
[glow=green,2,300]8. OOC in IC areas.[/glow] If you have no idea what "OOC" or "IC" means, please go here. OOC threads or posts in the IC forum is strictly not allowed. All OOC posts in the IC forum will be deleted. Frequent breaking of this rule results in mild warnings. Use medicine as directed.
[glow=green,2,300]9. Threads in Wrong Catagories.[/glow] Eh, it's a misdemeanor at worst. The most trouble it will get you in is like in rule 8. Your thread will likely be relocated with a post by the mod stating that you made an error. Unless you do it 20 times in one day, nothing bad will happen to you.
[glow=green,2,300]10. ProBoards TOS.[/glow] Some of you might have noticed (if you've registered) that ProBoards' rules are different from my own (particularly the leniency in obscenity). Plus, there's probably a lot of things in thier TOS that might get people who follow my own rules in trouble in the future. I'm not going to say to follow their rules when my rules already contradict those, but if you do something that angers the ProBoards people, I'm not going to help you just because my own rules doesn't penalize it.
The rules are always, always, always subject to change. If I think up another rule later, BAM, it's on here. I won't do the thing where someone does something I don't like, put up the rule, and then ban them. I'll do the thing where someone does something I don't like, put up the rule, wait till they do it again, and then ban them. That's how things are.
