So, you want to post your own RPG?
And you want to know the procedures?
BASIC HOW-TO
Well, there aren't many, really. Almost every step is optional. It really comes down to, "If you want to do it that way," but here's a general outline:
1. You can post your idea in The Pub first to get feedback from others on your concept, maybe get some advice and help with tweaking little areas before you post a try-out topic.
2. Make a try-out topic in the Try-outs and Character Storage in order to gather RPers (and their characters) into the RPG, stating the premise/story behind the RPG and supplying a try-out sheet for them.
3. After gathering what you feel is enough players, post a topic for it in the IC board and a matching lounge in the Pub, and commence roleplaying. This is really the only step that isn't optional.
TRY-OUT THREADS
Typical try-out threads begin with an exposition on the story of the RPG, a short explanation of what roles the characters might play, any extra rules they must follow, and the try-out sheet where the players make their character. Looking at other try-out topics will give you a good gist of how to go about this, but the forms themselves typically have the following (they might vary heavily from RPG to RPG, depending on what might be important):
Name - The character's name
Sex - The character's sex
Age - The character's age
Appearance - Hoe the character appears
Bio/History - The character's backstory
Cut-scene - A scene involving the character, usually in a fight.
You might want more options (or omit some of these) to customize it to your own RPG. It should be noted that the use of the cut-scene is to show you that the player is competent enough that they would be a good addition to your RPG. The purpose of try-outs is not only to gain players, but to gain decent players/characters and weed out any that would only drag the game down.
CONTENT
Your RPG can be about anything; there are absolutely no restrictions. However, you'd do best to not post one that is merely a fad, or one that is not well conceived. If its a unique concept, then it's best.
Also, the subject matter might be mature in your RPG. That's absolutely fine, but if you insist on making an RPG that centers around hot gay vampire sex, then please ask me first and see if it's a good idea. If I say "no", that doesn't mean you can't post it, but I'm not taking blame for it, and if too many complain about it, I might be forced to delete it anyway.
THE "ACTIVE" POSTINGS
In the left chamber of the welcome box, there is a list of all active RPGs and try-outs. Every posted RPG and try-out, regardless of content or who posted it, will be put there as soon as I see it. If you find that it is still not posted, do not hesitate to PM me and tell me about it.
However, I also want to know when your try-outs and RPGs are over/dead as soon as you determine it. When you determine it, PM me, and I shall remove it from the list and lock the topic. If I suspect that your RPG or try-outs are dead and you haven't asked me, I might badger you with questions and tell you to make a decision.
This does not mean you cannot "resurrect" it later. If you have enough backing from other people/players, I might be convinced to re-open the topic.
